Matthew Mangulabnan is a Manila-based photographer. He uses photography to unfold stories that resonate that are overlooked and undermined.
In this contemporary era, Matthew’s photography profoundly appreciates the interplay of human emotion. With him and photography, he embraces the multiplicity of perspectives of what is, was, and what could be—this led him to pursue his individuality as a Filipino photographer in the realm of photography.
Some moments aren’t meant to be described—they’re meant to be felt, and that’s where Matthew begins. He considers photography a sensory pursuit to be kept in an open yet sacred place for someone to reminisce.
To him, it holds a fleeting truth held still. A means to sip the essence of a human to savor an experience that is meant to be cherished. The medium of photography extends a memory that encapsulates a possibility, presence and absence, crafting a moment to illuminate one’s memory.
With a Bachelor of Arts in Photography from De La Salle College of Saint-Benilde Manila, He has sought a cultivation of human essence, longing to be felt and saved. His work is a journey into the emotions and stories that often go unnoticed, preserving them as memories, both vivid and intangible. Every photograph becomes a testament to moments that linger, inviting viewers to feel what cannot always be seen.
